The market for ebooks is growing fast and people are reading more and more books on portable media devices from the Kindle, to the PC to the smart phone. Regardless of how you are reading them you probably want to find some ebooks without breaking the bank.

The list below includes some of the best sites online that will allow you to download and read ebooks for zero cost. Between them you have access to an almost limitless range of titles.

They aren't going to stop you buying ebooks but they will give you a huge choice and ensure you get the best value out of your media device whether it is an ebook reader, mobile phone, laptop or PC. That has got to be good for both the consumer and the publishing industry.

Project Gutenberg
Project Gutenberg offers over 36,000 free ebooks to download to your PC, Kindle, Android, iOS or other portable device. There are a variety of formats to choose between including ePub, Kindle, HTML and plain text formats.

Google E-Bookstore
Google eBooks is a similar concept to the Amazon store. It can store your library in the digital cloud, so you can read all of your favorite books using Internet connected devices. Google eBooks is compatible with Android phones, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, web browsers and many supported eReaders. As with Amazon, Google Books provides free books as well the usual range of paid-for products.
